European Days of Archeology

The City of Fano has organized guided visits to the many archaeological sites that tell and hand down the origins and history of the city itself, as well as workshops for children and extraordinary openings of the Museums.

History lovers, simple curious, families, everyone can discover the archaeological heritage that the city of Fano preserves and protects.

 

PROGRAM:

Friday 16

 

Archaeological Museum of the Palazzo Malatestiano

17.00-20.00, guided visit to the Archaeological Section and extraordinary opening of the Museum.
21.30-23.00, extraordinary opening of the Museo del Palazzo Malatestiano.

21.30, Capital Hat. After the success, back to the children’s workshop (6-10 years) in which will be made a hat capital that takes the features of a Roman capital on the examples in the Museums of Fano.

Archaeological Area of Sant'Agostino

21.30, Fano underground. Discovering the Roman buildings in the basement of St. Augustine.

Saturday 17

Archaeological Museum of the Palazzo Malatestiano and Archaeological Area of the Domus Romana (Piazza XX Settembre)

17.00-20.00, guided visits to the Domus Romana every 30 minutes.

21.30, In the shape of Domus. Workshop for children (6-10 years), which will see the realization of a real miniature Roman house, all through its distinctive elements.

21.30-23.00, extraordinary opening of the Museo del Palazzo Malatestiano.

Archaeological Area of Sant'Agostino

17.30, Fano underground. Discovering the Roman buildings in the basement of St. Augustine.

Museo Archeologico del Palazzo Malatestiano and Archaeological Area of the Roman Amphitheatre (Corso Matteotti, 45)

17.00-20.00 guided visits to the Roman Amphitheatre every 30 minutes.

21.30-23.00 Special opening of the Museo del Palazzo Malatestiano

21.30 Excavations in progress! Aspiring archaeologists at work. Workshop for children (6-10 years) in which they will experience the sensations - and emotions - of a true archaeologist. A simulated excavation laboratory where remains and artifacts will be unearthed.

Archaeological Area of Sant'Agostino

17.30, History with clay. Friends of Lucignolo. A conversation on torches, lamps and ancient

chandeliers, followed by a children’s workshop in which a clay lamp will be made.
