Didamar – The Aquarium of Fano Marine Center
Discovering the Adriatic between science and fun

With 7 themed tanks, over 50 hosted species, and an interactive educational path, Didamar is much more than an aquarium: it’s an immersive experience designed for both adults and children, where you’ll be amazed by the beauty and diversity of marine life.
A journey through ecosystems, colors, shapes, and curiosities of our Adriatic Sea—perfect for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking for an educational and fascinating experience. Every visit to Didamar is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of environmental protection and the delicate balance that sustains marine ecosystems.
Come discover the sea… from a brand-new perspective.
A sea of environments to explore
Didamar is a small submerged world: each tank tells a different story of our sea, from the Posidonia seagrass meadows—home to creatures like the pipefish—to the dark caves inhabited by species adapted to low light. Then there are the tegnùe, real oases of life on the sandy seabed, or the themed tanks featuring fascinating protagonists like the hermit crab or the scorpionfish, a master of camouflage.
But the journey doesn’t stop there: the route also includes interactive spaces, educational installations, and multimedia content that help visitors understand today’s most pressing marine issues, such as climate change, the arrival of alien species, and the importance of environmental monitoring.

The Thematic Routes
At Didamar, you don’t just look at the sea—you understand it, listen to it, and learn how to protect it. The exhibition paths guide visitors through current topics, such as climate change and its impact on the Mediterranean. A special area is dedicated to environmental monitoring, featuring the “Fortunae Oceanographic Buoy”—a real marine sentinel positioned off the coast of Fano. With real-time data and video images, visitors can observe everything as it happens.
The route also addresses the issue of alien species—organisms that arrive from afar and threaten local biodiversity. From blue crabs to pufferfish and tropical jellyfish, the visit becomes a true scientific exploration that fascinates both adults and children.
For younger visitors, Didamar offers a parallel route filled with interactive experiences and hands-on activities designed to make learning fun.
